Preparing for a Power Outage
Power outages can happen for many reasons, including storms, equipment failures,
wildfire conditions, planned maintenance, or emergencies affecting the electric grid.
During extreme wildfire conditions, PG&E may also use a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS)
to temporarily turn off electricity in areas where energized power lines could increase wildfire risk.

The PG&E Outage Center provides current outage information, estimated restoration times,
outage maps, and Public Safety Power Shutoff information.
Check California Grid Conditions
California ISO — Today’s Outlook
California ISO operates much of California’s high-voltage electric grid.
Its Today’s Outlook page shows current demand, available capacity, forecasts,
and other real-time grid information.
