Radio System
-
Our new radio system uses a Motorola XPR-8400 repeater installed on a hilltop at a 600 foot elevation overlooking Almaden Valley.
-
The repeater receives low power signals from the hand held radios and retransmits the signal at a high power so that others in the 95120 area can receive clear communication on their hand held radio .
-
It is intended for use from Coleman Road south throughout the Almaden Valley; however, it has some coverage into Cupertino, SJ Airport and other areas.
-
AVPSN obtained a Commercial/Business Radio License from the FCC. This license is for a private frequency which can only be used with AVPSN authorization. Unauthorized use is subject to fines and imprisonment from FCC enforcement. That is one reason why applications for use are kept on file with AVPSN.
Donations Membership and use of this radio net is free thanks to the generosity of three neighbors from Pierce Ranch, Country Club, and Shadowbrook who spent several thousands of dollars for the repeater and frequency license.Donations to help offset the cost of operation, maintenance, and repeater cost are appreciated.
