Our Mission

The Almaden Valley Community Emergency Response Team is a FEMA (Federal Emergency
Management Agency) trained CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) for the
Almaden Valley in the City of San Jose . Our mission is to help our neighbors during a disaster
when the local fire and police are overwhelmed with hundreds of emergency calls.

The goals of CERT are:

  • To promote household self-sufficiency
  • To promote community self-sufficiency; and
  • To organize for effective emergency response by coordinating the efforts of paid and
    volunteer responders.

The motto of CERT is "To do the most good for the most people" in the event of a disaster."
